My career in design and branding actually started with my first job at 16 years old. I started working for a local manufacturing company as an administrative assistant, mostly managing calls and emails. When the owner discovered my recently learned graphic design skills, he quickly took advantage of them and put me to work re-branding the company and creating cohesively branded assets, such as product brochures, dealer shop banners, and business cards.
Over the years, I continued to work on projects for that company and other clients I found in the area. After college I pursued a social media manager job at a local startup in Austin. Less than a year later, I was promoted to a team that handled branding and copywriting for small businesses all over the country. We handled everything from simple logo designs to business bios for social media websites. My role on the team has changed over the years, but branding and copywriting is still at the core of what we do. I've taken on more project management, data analysis, and customer communication tasks in my current role, but it's all rooted in crafting strong branding for small business's social media and web pages.
Recently, I decided to add user experience design to my tool belt. I earned a certificate in UX design from Southern Methodist University in September 2022, following an intensive 8-month long program. (Click here to read about my final project!)
Some exciting stuff that's fun: Here is a photo of my teammate and I helping microbusinesses in Baltimore build their brand for Empower by GoDaddy. I also spoke at GoDaddy Open in Baltimore in 2022. You can view the slideshow I presented and more on this page.
